Korea lithium battery KC certification

KC certification is a compulsory certification carried out by Korean government departments for listed products in order to protect consumer safety. These product certifications are divided into three categories, type 1, type 2 type 3. South Korea's current "Electrical Appliances Safety Management Act" "Quality Management Industrial Product Safety Management Act" will be merged into the "Electrical Appliances Industrial Product Safety Management Act", which will be officially implemented on January 28, 2017. According to the merger regulations, the KC certification for lithium batteries will have the following major changes

Korea KC mark regulated products included in rechargeable lithium batteries
Korea KATS (Korean Agency for Technology Stards) announced the applicable stards for portable secondary lithium battery packs lithium batteries: Self-Regulatory Safety Confirmation, Annex 05, included related products under the self-declared product category of the KC certification system. It was ally implemented on July 1, 2009.

The Self-Regulatory Safety Confirmation, Annex 05 stard covers battery packs batteries. The required test items are similar to the IEC 62133 stard, including: High Temperature Storage, Temperature Cycling Test), External Short Circuit Test, Crushing of Cells, Cell Protection Against a High Charging Rate, Thermal Abuse Test .
 

Korea KC certification


 
Currently, the testing of portable secondary lithium battery packs lithium batteries must be pered by authorized laboratories in Korea, cannot be transferred with the IEC 62133 CB report. After the product passes the evaluation, it will be issued a Confirmation Letter of Declaration with a validity period of 5 years, during which no factory inspection is required.

In addition, since January 1, 2009, MKE (Ministry of Knowledge Economy) has unified 13 existing certification marks in South Korea, such as eK, KCC, KPS, etc., into KC marks as the country’s national certification marks. The transition period for the old new logos is June 30, 2011.

Applicable stards:
-Single cell (Cell): For portable use, the energy density per volume exceeds 400Wh/L
-Battery (Pack): Single battery is assembled in a row
-All portable lithium batteries or batteries with navigation function that have nothing to do with the energy density per volume are applicable. (Used in harsh conditions inside the car)
-Single batteries batteries used in portable Yiliao devices, barcodes credit card readers are all suitable objects
※ Carrying equipment: MP3, electronic dictionary, PMP, notebook computer, digital camera, etc.
※ Non-certified objects: For vehicle driving, industrial use, Yiliao or button type.
